Englewood Lodge is situated at the north end of Douglas promenade in the parish of Onchan and offers 4 guest rooms; 1 superior double room, 2 double/twin rooms & 1 single room. All rooms have full en-suite facilities.
There is no level access to the property due to the design of the building and therefore advise that it is only suitable for guests requiring limited mobility assistance.
We are 45 minutes walk from Douglas town centre and the sea front, and a short drive away from all the Manx National Heritage Attractions.

The closest bus/tram stop is just outside the property (500m/546 yards). The bus operates a very limited service (no 13/13a) but trams run from Derby Castle every 30 minutes, 7 days per week during the season. Ask the tram driver for ‘Braeside’ stop. There is shelter and seating there.
Taxis are available both from the Sea Terminal and Ronaldsway Airport – we can book one for you in advance if required.
Ronaldsway Airport is 30 minutes by car and Douglas Sea Terminal is 15 minutes away.
We regret we are unable to accommodate guest’s pets but do of course welcome assistance dogs.
CAR PARKING AND ARRIVAL
There is adequate parking on the driveway in front of the property or on the private road where Englewood Lodge is situated.
Access to our property from the paved driveway – there are 2 steps – 1 is 170mm (6.5 inches)the other is 190mm (9 inches) on to a paved 10 meter walkway with 1 internal step 140mm (5.5 inches) then a further 8 steps 170mm (6.5 inches) up to the main door.
There is no hand rail.
This is well lit at night by a motion sensor.
Entry step of 300mm (12 inches) at the front door 706mm (30 inches wide). This gives access to the hallway and reception area.
Guests are welcomed to the hallway, which is level throughout, where they are asked to register.
Seating is available with 1 upright chair without arms.
The area is well lit with overhead lighting and a table lamp.
Assistance can be given with luggage.
Guests are shown to the dining room, lounge and their bedroom.
Our beds are normally made up with duvets but sheets and blankets can be provided if preferred. Our standard pillows are feather and down, however alternatives are also available.
There is seating, bedside tables, bedside lamps, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing tables provided in each room.
Flat screen, Freeview digital TVs with sub titles available.
Bedroom 1 is just off the hallway (all level), has a standard double bed 560mm (22 inches) high with access from both sides. The en suite is accessed via a level entry doorway from the bedroom. A bath (with non slip bath mat) and a separate fixed head shower cubicle with a folding door, a 600mm (24 inches) entry gap and a 80mm (3 inch) step. The toilet is 400mm (16 inches) high.
All the other bedrooms are on the 1st floor which is accessed by means of stairs with fourteen 200mm, (9 inches high) steps, there is a handrail on both sides.
Our Superior Double Room has a super king bed with access from both sides. The ensuite is accessed via a level entry doorway from the bedroom. A bath with non slip shower mat, a fixed head separate shower cubicle with an entry gap of 408mm (19 inches). The toilet is 405mm (18 inches high).
Bedroom 3 has either 2 single beds or super king with access from both sides. The ensuite is accessed via a level entry from the bedroom. There is a shower cubicle with a fixed shower head an an entry gap of 508mm (23 inches). The toilet is 406mm (18 inches) high.
Bedroom 4 has either 2 single beds or a super king bed, with access from both sides. The en suite is accessed via a level entry from the bedroom. The shower has a fixed head in a wet area with an entrance gap of 508mm (23 inches). The toilet is 400mm (16 inches) high.
PUBLIC AREAS – HALLS, STAIRS, LANDINGS & CORRIDORS
All public areas – hall stairs and landings are well lit using a combination of ceiling and table-lamps.
All areas are fully carpeted.
There are no steps to the dining room or the down stairs toilet which lead off the hall-way.
The house is fully centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be adjusted to suit individual requirements.
There are automatic audible smoke alarms in the main and upper halls.
There is a small unisex downstairs toilet which is available to guests during the day/evening.
The toilet is located off the hallway and is accessed via a 660mm (26 inches) door and is level entry.
Toilet is 440mm (18 inches) high.
The dining room is situated off the hallway on the ground floor and the entrance is 1500mm (60 inches) wide with level entry.
Large windows allowing plenty of natural light supplemented by overhead and free standing lights.
There is a living flame gas fire to supplement the heating if required.
There is seating for 6 at a marble table or for 2 at the small glass individual tables – with coordinating chairs.
There is a coordinating buffet table where guests can help themselves to cereal, fruit, yoghurts and juices. Assistance can be provided if required.
For guests we have a tiled patio area with rattan tables and chairs. This can be used as a smoking area if required.
There are “in case of fire” instructions posted on the back of the bedroom doors.
There is an information folder in each of the bedrooms with information on NHS facilities, local restaurants for guests perusal.
We have storage facilities for golfers, cyclists and walkers equipment.
A battery charging facility is also available for motorised scooters or golf trolleys.
Free Wi Fi facilities are available.
We are happy to cater for special diets if required. Please advise before arrival.
We can refrigerate prescription medication or perishable food in our refrigerator for a limited period.
